The Benefits of the Black Garlic!
Asians have been long exposed to it but for many black garlic is something like a novelty
item although it has been in existence for half a dozen years now. It’s a product of fermentation done with a
twist. The color may have changed but their nutritional and medicinal values remain intact. Its taste though is
very different and so does its smell. It has a sweet acrid flavor and nothing of its pungent odor. You can eat it
as it is, or as ingredients to other dishes.
The fermented garlic boasts of an enhanced medicinal value aside from its much improved taste as a
culinary item. Asians, especially Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans as well, are exceptionally good in making very
effective herbal medicines and excellent dishes. The creation of fermented garlic is a science of its own and the
result has benefited not only the food lovers but most of all those who are frail of health.
This is done by placing several bulbs of garlic inside earthen wares and is buried for a
month underground.
No additives or other ingredients are added to it, although some variations are coming out of
the market. They’re not genuine and should not be confused with the real one which comes out colored black and
dehydrated.
They allegedly have more medicinal power than the ordinary garlic. They have purportedly high
antioxidant properties if which is true, will make them a potent health food no doubt. Antioxidants are the ones
responsible for making the body healthy and strong.
Antioxidants are responsible for expunging our bodies from free radicals. These free radicals
have nothing else to do except kill the cells in our body. They do it by “strangling” the oxygen out of them. We
become weaker and sickly. Diabetes, cancer, stroke, and dying early are the usual outcome. If we survive, we will
look older than our real age. That’s how important antioxidants are. They’ll supply the body with enough oxygen
drowning the free radicals and eliminating them from the body.
If black garlic has that much antioxidant properties, consuming them would be
very advantageous indeed.
As mentioned before, there are other products sold as the real thing but they are black only because
of additives like soy sauce being added into them. Other colors are also coming out but they don’t have the great
medicinal properties of the black Allium, although as garlic they still posses its normal therapeutic effects. But
it’s good to be vigilant. We don’t want to be taken for a ride and deprived of our money of products which are not
what they appear to be.
Garlic will continue to give us its beneficial properties and who knows black garlic will be the beginning of more wonderful products in the future. The garlic
pill, tablet and capsules have been providing us for years a good source of magnificent alternative medicine. Maybe
another revolutionary product will appear in the near future.
